Flax Seed Raita is an interesting North Indian side dish recipe. This sweet yet salty side dish will definitely give an unexpected twist to your main course. This is also a healthy dish as it has the goodness of flax seeds, bottle gourd or ghiya or Lauki and curd. Bottle gourd is said to be good for the digestive system and it also adds volume to the dish. And yogurt is a rich source of calcium and is easier to digest too. The coriander leaves used for garnishing add flavour to the raita. This raita recipe is not just delicious but extremely healthy, and goes best with roti/naan, pulao, and biryani. Try out this extremely quick and easy-to-make refreshing dish.
Preparation time- 5 min
Cooking time- 5 min.

Cousin- side dish
3Tbsp flax seeds roasted and ground
½ cup bottle gourd, grated
1 cup curd (low fat)
½ tsp red chilli powder
½ desi ghee
4 tspn chopped coriander leaves coriander leaves
1 tsp cumin seeds roasted and powder
Salt to taste
Water if required
Heat pan add ½ tspn desi ghee add one pinch jeera crackle and add grated bottle guard.
Sauté two min. or till ghiya or lauki get dry or cooked well.
Now heat pan add 3 tspn flax seeds roast and make fine powder.
Take mixing bowl add one cup of fresh curd and add cooked bottle guard mix well.
Add roasted jeera powder, red chilli powder, salt and mix well.
Now add 3 tspn powdered flax seeds and mix properly.
Add chopped dhaniya patti mix well.
Garnish and serve,
You can serve chilled or normal.
