Hare matar ki dal or Green Peas dal  is a quick, simple and unique dal recipe compared to the traditional dal recipe made with lentils. It is an authentic and traditional dal preparation of Uttar Pradesh, prepared and relished with joy in every house during winter.



Hare matar ki dal or Green peas dal is a simple and healthy way of preparing dal with fresh green peas and other spices. It is full of nutritions and contains a lot of proteins and vitamins. Therefore, it is very healthy and delicious as well.

Hare matar ki dal goes well with chapatti or steamed rice.

1 cup of Moong dal

1 cup of green peas

½ tspn jeera

½ haldi powder

1 tspn chopped garlic

½ red chilli powder

1 small chopped tomato

3-4 garlic cloves

1 tspn desi ghee (for tadka)

1 small chopped onion

1 tspn chopped ginger

2-3 green chilli

½ garam masala

½ rai

½ tspn oil

Chopped hara dhaniya

Salt to taste




Take pressure cooker and add one tspn oil and add jeera and saute.

Now add chopped ginger and onion saute.

Add one cup of washed moong dal, green peas, chopped tomato, green chilli, red chilli powder, garam masala, haldi powder and add salt according to taste.

Close the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistle.

Now take tadka pan add one tspn desi ghee add rai and hing saute add 1 tspn chopped garlic and red chilli powder.

Open the pressure cooker mix well dal and add tadka in dal and mix again

Garnish with dhaniya patti and Serve hot with chapatti or rice,
