Masala Rice Recipe. Maharastrian masala bhaat– A quick masala rice recipe made with leftover rice, or fresh steamed rice. This dish goes well as a quick meal, lunch in tiffin or even as a brunch. Just serve some papad, Pickle, salad along the masala rice.

I have used onion, tomatoes, and spices for this recipe. You could use your choice of veggies like carrots, potato, etc.

Preparation time- 5 min.

Cooking time- 5 min.

Serve- 2 person

Ingredients-

2 cup steamed rice

1.5 tbsp clarified butter or oil

a pinch of asafoetida

½  tsp turmeric powder

½  tbsp kashmiri red chili powder

2-3 green chilli slited

1 tsp cumin seed

1 tsp garam masala powder

3-4 green chilies slit from center

½ cup onion julienne

¼ th cup chopped tomatoes

2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

Salt as per taste

Method-

Heat pan Add ghee or oil

Put cumin seed and saute.

Once they crackle add thinly sliced onion.

Sauté onion until they change colour to pale light brown in colour.

Put the chopped tomatoes and mix nicely.

Add garam masala, haldi, red chilli powder and salt to taste.

Just add half of coriander leaves. Mix all nicely.

Cover and cook for 2 minutes. If the mixture is drying then add a little water.

Remove the lid.

Now add rice and mix well.

Once they are combined nicely switch off the gas. You could add lime juice now if using (optinal).

Garnish dhaniya patti and Serve your masala  rice with, papad, pickle and  raita.
