Uttapam is a delicious South Indian dish. Uttapam is a dosa-like preparation, it is very light, healthy and easy to make recipe and you can serve for breakfast, brunch or evening snacks. Even you can add your kids tiffin box. It is very healthy snacks for kids because its loaded of vegetables. I only use tomato and onion but you can add more vegetables like-carrot, capsicum, corn.
It is made with the batter of rice, dhuli urad dal and methi dana with salt. You can make uttapam leftover idli or dosa batter too.
I have already post-
Preparation time- 10 min. (if you have leftover idli batter)
Cooking time-20 min.
Serve-2 person
Type- snacks
Ingredients-
Rice 2cup
Dhuli urad dal-1 cup
Methi dana- 1 tbspn
1 tspn salt
Onion chopped- 2 medium size
Tomato chopped- 2 medium size
Green chilli- 3-4 chopped
Coreinder leaves- chopped 3-4 tbspn
Chilli flacks- 2 tbspn
Method-
First soak rice and dal with methi dana in water for over a night or 4-5 hr.
After soaking grind them and make a smooth paste, and leave the batter for fermentation for 4-5 hr.
(If you have leftover idli batter then you can easily make uttapam)
Now heat tawa and brush oil over it. When tawa is really hot sprinkle some water over it, and wipe with tissue paper.
Now pour the 2 tspn batter on tawa, add chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, sprinkle chilli flacks and coriander leaves, cover it and let it cook for 1 min.
Turn it over and let cook on other side for a min.
Uttapam is ready to serve.
Serve it coconut chutney or peanuts chutney.
Note- I make mini uttapam so I take 2 tbspn of batter, if you make big size of uttapam then take 1 ladle of batter.
