An easy and extremely simple Indian classical dessert recipe made with roasted gram flour, jaggery, and ghee. This ladoo is traditionally made in North India in winter season but you can add daily one laddu in your breakfast with milk and it will be more beneficial for your health. This recipe is recognized Bihar & Uttar Pradesh cuisine. It has crunchy and flavored taste, it is known for its nutritional benefits and hence can be served to all age groups.

Most of these sweets and dessert recipes are made with milk and different types of flour & grains. One such easy and simple North Indian cuisine dessert is sattu ladoo recipe known for its crunchy taste.

The origin of this simplistic laddo hails from the Bihar and Uttar Pradesh border areas. Initially, it was made and served as a complete snack for kids and young adults as it supplies an abundant amount of energy and calories. However, gradually it has been adopted and transformed into a dessert with the addition of dry fruits, sugar, and gond crystals. Hence it can also be seen served for various occasions and celebration feasts. I make always these laddu  and serve to my loved once as it helps them gain the required amount of energy. Cuisine- dessert (UP and Bihar)

Ingredients-

 

2 cup of roasted chana or sattu powder

1 cup jaggery or gur

5-6 almonds

1 cup makhana or lotus seeds

2 tbspn desi ghee

1 tspn Cademom powder (optional)

Method-

Firstly, peel the skin of 2 cup sattu and grind to a fine powder. keep aside.

Now add 1 cup makhana in grinder and make coarsely powder.

Chopped almond and keep aside.

Heat a  kadhahi add 2 tbspn ghee and add grounded chana or sattu.

Saute 2 min. and add makhana powder and saute.

Continue to roast on low flame until the flour turns aromatic and ghee releases from sides.

Add chopped almonds off the flame and keep aside.

Take a pan add 1 cup of gur and little amount of water.

When the mixture is lukewarm, add 1 cup jaggery powder, ½ tsp cardamom powder and mix well.

Crumble and mix making sure the mixture is well combined.

Now take gur mixture and add in sattu powder and cook till leave the ghee in sides.

When mixture is leave the sides off the flame and keep aside let it cool.

Now take small portion of mixture and prepare the ladoo.

Sattu laddu is ready to serve garnish with almonds and enjoy.

Stored in an airtight container for month and enjoy.
